From the outset the Bedales girls demonstrated a high work rate and proved to be tough competition for the HCS side.
Within the first ten minutes of the game Nell Freeborough got her name on the score sheet when she sent the ball up into the top left corner of the goal from the right post. The HCS side did get a few attacking breaks but struggled to break through the strong defensive unit of Emma Nelson and Shanklin MacKillop-Hall.
Towards the end of the first half Mathilda Douglas narrowly missed the goal with a rocket shot from the edge of the D and this saw us finish the first half with a 1-0 lead.
The girls went hard into the second half, however HCS appeared to have also stepped up their play. Sasha Arney was put to the test in both her attacking and defensive play but the HCS girls proved to be no match for her pace, fitness and skill and this allowed Sasha to win possession back on numerous occasions and send the ball down to Fleur Donovan and launch an attack. The second goal came from Alisia Leach who won the ball on the half way line, dribbled down the pitch and injected the ball from the top of the D straight into the left hand corner.
All of the girls played exceptionally well today and demonstrated an excellent competitive spirit, a great sense of determination and a high level of intensity which allowed them to achieve their 2-0 win over a solid HCS side. Massive well done to all of the Bedales girls who represented the school this week.
